The Jefferson County Film Tourism Guide is a historic look at our county’s unique contributions to the world of cinema and some of the places and municipalities that have been featured in movies over the course of the 20th and 21st centuries. Dating back to the dawn of commercial moviemaking, and carried forward into today’s vibrant local film scene, this map, and the movies that go along with it, will hopefully serve as a guided tour through the ways that Jefferson County locations and assets have and can be utilized in creating Hollywood magic right here in our own backyard. An offshoot of the Jefferson County Film Initiative, the guide aims to give filmmakers and fans alike an overview of the best of what filmmaking in Alabama has to offer- both from our past as well as into the future- and especially here in beautiful Jefferson County.
